Chuck E Cheese’s, currently owned by CEC Entertainment, is a chain of Family Entertainment Centers. The Chain, alongside it’s many Brands, have changed Heavily over it’s 45+ year History. Currently, the Chain is in an era of major changes, with the creation of Adventure World and the closure of several stores[1].

Chuck E Cheese’s
Note this includes Pizza Time Theatre for simplicity, but the two are separated on the Wiki
Chuck E Cheese’s (Officially titled Chuck E Cheese) is the Main chain of FECS, first founded by Nolan Bushnell under Atari in May of 1977 as Chuck E Cheese’s Pizza Time Theatre. The Idea began back in the early 70’s, eventually evolving into an Animatronic Arcade with Food.
The Current Chain was created in 1986 with Major changes to development and entertainment done by Showbiz Pizza Time (Later CEC Entertainment) throughout the late 80’s, and Fully changed through Concept Unification in 1990.
The Introduction of Studio C in 1997 began the process of phasing out Full Animatronic Shows, finalized with Circles of Lights in 2012.
2.0, the Current Store Model, was created in 2017 and was made to Fully Remove Animatronics from Stores, alongside New Exterior designs. Despite this, The Company maintains 6 ‘Legacy’ Stores with Animatronic Shows across The United States & Canada. Several Stores however remain Non-Remodeled, & it’s unknown when future remodels will happen.

Chuck’s Arcade
Chuck’s Arcade is the Main secondary chain to Chuck E Cheese’s. The Chain was founded in 2022 as Chuck E Cheese’s Fun Zone, later Mister Pixel, and eventually Funspot Arcade in 2024. The Chain rebranded in Early 2025 to Chuck’s Arcade, now utilizing ‘Retro’ elements from the Main Chain’s history.
Chuck E. Cheese Adventure World
Chuck E. Cheese Adventure World is the Most Recent secondary chain to Chuck E Cheese’s. Adventure World was founded in 2025, and currently operates 1 Location in Arlington, Texas and a Future Location planned in Fargo, North Dakota.
The Chain features a large indoor Playplace, a Claw machine Arcade, and a TV screen dining area. The Chain also features AI Generated images as Murals and on it’s logo, something that has remained controversial especially in the CEC Fandom.
Peter Piper Pizza
Peter Piper Pizza is the Largest secondary chain to Chuck E Cheese’s. The Chain, originally separate from CEC, was created in 1973 by ‘Tony’ Cavolo. The Chain would later be sold around, eventually being bought by Apollo Global Management, the at the time owner’s of CEC Entertainment until 2020, in 2014.
The Chain also operated 3 Peter Piper Pizza Express locations, currently only 1 in Tucson, Arizona. The Chain also operated 1 Peter Piper Pizzeria location in Kansas City, Missouri until it’s conversion into a Chuck E Cheese’s.
Pasqually’s Pizza & Wings
Pasqually’s Pizza & Wings was a delivery & pick up only ghost kitchen service ran out of Chuck E Cheese’s stores from 2020 until it’s discontinuation in 2025.
Showbiz Pizza Place
Showbiz Pizza Place (Officially called Showbiz Pizza during it’s final years) was the Major competitor to Chuck E Cheese’s and later secondary chain that was founded in 1980 by Robert Brock following His breaking of contract with Pizza Time Theatre. The Chain, originally created to house Animatronic shows by Creative Engineering, was later merged into Chuck E Cheese’s by SPT from 1987 to 1990 when Concept Unification was finalized.
CEC Entertainment
CEC Entertainment (Formerly Showbiz Pizza Time from 1986 until 1998, Showbiz Pizza Place from 1980 until 1986, and Pizza Show Biz from 1979 until the founding of Showbiz in 1980) is the Parent Company of Chuck E Cheese’s & Peter Piper Pizza. The Company, originally founded by Robert Brock in 1979 as a branch of Pizza Time Theatre, the Company has changed heavily over it’s 40+ year history. The Company is currently owned by Monarch Alternative Capital.
Other brands formerly owned by CEC Entertainment or it’s predecessor’s include Fantasy Forest, Sente Tech, Kadabrascope, Zapp’s Bar & Grill, and TJ Hartford’s Grill & Bar.
While never owned by CEC Ent or any predecessor, Atari Game Center (Formally called Atari Family Game Center) existed as an Arcade Mall chain in California, predating the PTT concept by 3 years.
The Chuck E Cheese Metaverse was also a planned concept, before it’s silent cancellation.
