Expectations & Hopes for the 50 Years of Fun?

Curious what people think will happen for the 50th anniversary with CEC, if you think it’ll be boring or anything hype.

CEC hasn’t said much on it, we know from internal leaks its called 50 Years of Fun with just some generic graphics made so far. The only tangible thing I found was something Mark said last year. He said there’s plans for a celebration and:

“…something to more formally capture our history and make it available to those who care.”

“…we are looking at doing something for the 50th – I just don’t know what yet!”

Whats your hopes and dreams for the 50th? A proper history site, a documentary, special classic merch, a dedicated showtape, community engagement, something for the legacy stores? :blabla:

I was originally going to do a list of things I’d want to happen, but I decided to make this list of how likely I think those are going to be instead since that could be updated in the future depending on different stuff.

Very Likely

50 Years of Fun Showtape - Pretty obvious one, probably just some new versions of old songs and possibly some Nanuet styled throwback/retro content

Merch - Pretty much confirmed but I don’t know how much will be made (Especially If any more out of store products will be made)

Fan Club - Very likely as this was in that 2024 Fan Survey

New Animatronic Videos - Pretty Likely compared to other Animatronic Content with How Corporate seems to treat Animatronics more as Retro/Nostalgia Items more than a genuine art form

Mississauga becomes Canada’s Legacy Store - Either this or no Canadian Legacy Store, either way I still don’t think the Road Stage will return (Probably; I would be surprised if they did). There is another possibility however, which is listed below

Likely

Spokane becomes the 6th Legacy - This is less likely then Mississauga/No 6th Legacy Store, But I do feel like Spokane is the most likely option besides the Mississauga

Documentary - The only reason this isn’t in the Very Likely section is because I feel like it’s not 100% something CEC would do

Book or other Non Toy Merch item - Likely as I feel like this is something CEC WOULD do, but isn’t something I’m extremely confident in

Possible/Unlikely

Proper History Site - Knowing Corporation, this feels unlikely, But I don’t think it’s EXTREMELY unlikely

Fan Event supported by Corporate - Again, this is something Corporate doesn’t seem to want to do (At Least to Me), But COULD happen with the proper time & coordination between Corporate & The Fandom

Archival Stuff Released - I feel like this one is the only “I Want this to Happen But I don’t think It will” thing that is somewhat possible or wouldn’t suprise Me as much

VERY Unlikely/I would be Surprised if They did These

7th+ Legacy Store - I would LOVE for this to happen, But I feel like it’s pretty out there and I don’t expect Corporate to do this (Besides MAYBE Spokane + Canadian Legacy Store)

New Retro Themed Location - Another One I WANT to happen, but EXTREMELY UNLIKELY

Animatronics Return to Stores - EXTREMELY UNLIKELY, but one of those things that feels too obvious not to do (At Least from a Fan perspective). This would genuinely be the funniest conclusion to the 2.0 Era though.

The fan club in very likely? That was done in a panic when their future was unclear. If they brought it back itd probably be for some monetary gain cause i doubt they’d set up a newsletter when theyve stopped most of the hype with legacy stores.

I do hope something like it happens though. A more positive dialogue with thr company thats focused on just cool animatronic things would boost morale on both sides.

While I doubt it, a in-depth documentary of CEC’s history would be peak! What my guess would be is, as PizzaEntertainment said, a new showtape dedicating CEC’s 50 year anniversary, and most likely retro themed merch. My other guess is that they might do a special similar of how they did the Chuck E Cheese Christmas special they did one or two years ago. But yeah anything involving the animatronics would be great.
