David McKillips Continues Years Long Pajamas and Cereal Delusions

First proper statement from CEC in 2026! (through Fast Company’s article)

RIGHT out of the gate its talking about Chuck’s Arcade moments after the flagship location shuts down. They’re sure to only mention the other ones, though also claim there are ‘13’ stores when there are 15 (or 10 by CEC’s standards cause of non-branded ones)

How a plucky band of former Six Flags execs is positioning the 50-year-old pizza arcade spokesrodent to ride nostalgia to new heights.

And as to not want to have to get into Adventure World and their just announced plans to have ‘500-1000’ locations somehow, they pivot to acting like they’re capable of properly targeting an older, more nostalgic audience. They actually do backtrack when they have to mention AW too:

The company says it will test a handful of locations before setting any full rollout goals.

Much more relaxed than “We are gearing up, ramping up, to grow across the nation"

All of this may seem like a long-shot vision for a brand that’s been more associated recently with cheap punch lines…

“It’s impactful when Chuck E. Cheese is in the news, good or bad." citation

What a way to act high and mighty about brand power when discussing politicians slandering your name and an arrest of one of your workers.

“My IP dream is a global movie release,” McKillips says, citing Shrek, Sonic the Hedgehog, and the cross-generational appeal of a Pixar property as reference points. citation

Alright David, you’ve had 2 months to think of the next PR stunt to wow the news. And y-??? This is literally just what he said SIX YEARS AGO

“Ideally we would love to have Chuck E. Cheese in animation and possibly one day a movie feature as well…” SEPTEMBER 24, 2020

You haven’t even gotten to the TV show yet. Mind you the Holiday Special came out 2 months ago and hasn’t even cracked 200,000 views on YouTube. I’ve been told CEC has been telling managers to watch the special in January (draw your own conclusions why).

“I won’t stop until we have a movie. There are theme park opportunities, gaming opportunities. . . . I’m not done until every 5-year-old is going to sleep in their Chuck E. Cheese pajamas and waking up and having Chuck E. Cheese cereal.” citation

And now begins David’s 5 year long capitalistic obsession with having kids wake up in a CEC infested brand overload. He’s said this so many times we had to reuse the meme we already did from last year!

I mean it was pretty nastily quoted last year compared to now:

“I want every kid to go to sleep in their Chuck E. Cheese jammies and wake up and have Chuck E. Cheese cereal and make sure they get their homework done and behave at home so they can go to the treat down the street, which is Chuck E. Cheese,” he said. “We want to be the number one destination for kids all over the world.” 2025 Quote

David you already have people obsessed with CEC every waking moment, you’re just mad they have access to the internet and you have to actually witness a fanbase and what it wants.

But sure lets pull up the earliest quote too, I’m not paying for any articles including the newest one so you get this:

But either way lets get back to what’s actually something useful (most of the article is meandering)

“The company opened a handful of arcades in malls in 2024, called the Fun Spot Arcade, which flopped. But Kupferman…” “…began envisioning a new stand-alone arcade business that could carry Chuck E. Cheese branding. McKillips was resistant. ‘Doesn’t fit,’ he recalls thinking…” “…They ended up leaving the modern version of the mouse with the children’s pizza chain but using ‘traditional Chuck E.,’ the retro version associated with the 1980s and 1990s, for the arcade.”

This is actually the most direct statement on how Fun Spot became Chuck’s arcade so far. I figured it was Mark’s push to contribute his first big thing but interesting to see there was resistance. Also the fact they directly say the arcades ‘flopped’, which we didn’t know anything about their performance beforehand.

I first learned of Fun Spots back when they were just unbranded things nobody knew of in July of 2024. Only knew cause I was told one was opening soon and was like “what is that”

I used an alt to contact Mark about it- because I mean yeah CEC had ran these for 2 years and had ZERO PR or marketing on them. I was hoping to get any official statement that they were even real at the time. You can tell in this there’s a bit of a dismissive ‘we already do so much logistics for our own stores its easy to license out our services’ for them, but come September they would make their first actual steps to revealing to the public they were behind them, and then by February we actually get Chuck’s Arcade rebranding. I do wonder if me questioning the lack of branding was kinda what kicked that into motion.

While the company won’t share specific data, a spokesperson says the switch to Chuck’s Arcade from Fun Spot has had “a very positive effect” on the performance of each location. A typical visitor, whether a teen or a 50-year-old, buys a $50 game card and exhausts it over an hour or so.

And no surprise this did help them do better with actual branding. I do think in a world where this company dies that the arcades will be where the last vestiges of the brand will reside.

perhaps because the pricing on the games is ass and people actually want to be able to obtain a prize counter prize that’s not a singular airhead or a useless trinket that’ll get lost or forgotten about in a day.

This thing will be more forgotten than ever.

So given that the special finally made it to 200k, Will we finally be getting that series.

I wouldn’t count on it.

Well I still want to see a CEC TV Series one day. If not, then I’ll just have to settle for my CEC Fan Fiction over on the Dream Fiction Wiki, the 1994 Fox Kids series, Chuck E. Cheese’s Tunin’ Tunes.

Makes me even more glad his replacement is taking his spot soon. Since his replacement has a clean slate, it is unknown what the brand’s direction will be.

NEWSFLASH David: WE GOT A MOVIE IN 1999!!
