A new sign is being sent out that is confirming the complete erosion of the entire point of Kid Check.
This process had already started sometime around or before 2020, where “Extended Kid Check” was introduced that forced cashiers to run Kid Check as there was no labor for proper staff. This was only implemented on weekdays before 4pm.
Now labor has been further reduced, and on weekdays you’ll only have a cashier, someone in the kitchen, and a manager. This has now caused CEC to have to issue a sign urging families to not walk straight in and instead wait for Kid Check.
The issue is- what about people walking out? The entire point of Kid Check is to have someone there to either stop (or atleast witness cause I mean CEC’s hiring a 14 year old to try and stop full grown adults here) someone from just walking out with another person’s kid. This sign is laying out directly that CEC does not care about the safety of your child and that even waiting for Kid Check is just a gesture.
I get there’s few guests on a weekday, but the fact that the cashier cannot be guaranteed to be attending the entrance at all times, and their manager might be too busy to be in the area when they walk away, it erodes the trust of what this system is supposed to mean. People will abuse that vulnerability because CEC wants to run a skeleton crew.
