I FOUND A FIRST GENERATION MOTHER GOOSE AT A THRIFT STORE!!! SHE WAS SELLING WITH A HECTOR SHOWTAPE AND 2 OF HER OWN TAPES AND ALL OF IT WAS ONLY 36 DOLLARS. i think she’s in working condition, i just need to get some batteries in her!!! this is my 3rd mother goose, but my second vintage one! i found a newer mother goose at a different thrift store near a collector toy store i go to! what is my luck bro ?!?!

AHHH THANK YOU!!! i’ll have to post an update on her because i need some tips on a little bit of fixing. she was a little stiff because she was probably in storage for a while, but i got her beak and head working. it’s one of her eyes that’s the problem, but it’s really quite fixable!
I have two WOW Mickeys (a 1st gen and a 2nd gen) and I started working on them about a month ago after I did nothing with them for two years. I’m learning as I’m going. I can try to help a little bit if you’d like!
I got lucky with prices as well; my first one (the 1st gen), was listed for $20 at an antique mall but got him for like $16 because it was Memorial Day!
yes, please! it’s an easy fix but honestly i’m just worried about how to fix it.
basically, her eye is a semi-circle and her eyelid is also a semi-circle. when she blinks, it’s not her eyelid coming over her eye (like i once thought), her eye seems to be rolling back and her eyelid following after to give the illusion of closing…
that mechanism works fine, but her eyelash is the problem. her lashes keep the eyelid in the right spot but her eyelash is falling off. i see the spot where the glue got old and snapped but i’m worried on how to fix it. here’s a picture for reference (these aren’t her eyes, i haven’t gotten a picture of her eyes yet!)
do you have any tips on glue i can use or ways i can stick it back on?
I personally don’t own a Mother Goose, so I’ll try the best I can. I would assume, since her eyelashes are falling off, you could gently scrape or pick off the old glue that’s clad to them and put a little new glue on to reattach them.
that’s what i was thinking… do you have any glue recommendations? preferably something that isn’t super messy?
Maybe like just some regular Elmer’s school glue (the liquid kind)? I would be careful using that though.

i don’t take engineering classes unfortunately. . .but i would really like to! i might next year or the year after, but the engineering teacher is actually my homeroom teacher!

Cool! I have to get working on my Mickeys again at some point. I accidentally messed up the connector placement on my 1st gen when poking around with his motherboard, so now when I put a tape in it sounds like Chip and Dale having an argument over who’s going to go get the acorns because the cassette connector is where the eyelid connector is supposed to be. 
Prior to me doing that, funnily enough, he didn’t work AT ALL! I’ll have to open him back up and redo the connectors. My 2nd gen miraculously came to life again after being static for 2 years. His snout and jaw motors work, though they’re a bit shaky. A month or so ago, I put The Magic Boomerang tape in him and he ran PERFECTLY almost all the way through until he decided to shut off towards the end. With him, his cassette player is unreliable, so I think I’ll replace the belts in that at some point. His audio is also a tad bit warbly, but I think that’s just his speaker.

no, that’s actually really neat! my newest mother goose is from cuddle barn and i took advice from her pamphlet to gently move her head and beak to get her to work. she worked very well when i did that!
i might’ve seen a mickey at a habitat for humanity but i just . DIDNT GET HIM?!?! i just didn’t register it until later! i’m still upset about that lol.
also, it feels like every animatronic collecter and their mommy has a teddy ruxpin, so i’m probably gonna get him next summer when i start working a lot again.

My first Mickey (1st gen), as I said before, came from an antique mall and my second Mickey (2nd gen) came from an estate sale. I remember, before I got my first Mickey, for like a whole year up until a month before I got him, there was a WOW Snoopy for $150 with one of his tapes and was listed as working, in the same antique mall. I was so sad when he disappeared but seeing Mickey pop up made me very happy!
My second Mickey I found at an estate sale exactly one month after I bought my first Mickey. He was VERY DIRTY and smelled like cigarettes, and he was in his original box (which was disgusting and got thrown out) but he came with like 8 tapes, and like 9 books, and 2 extra outfits. He was $75. There was a Goofy at the estate sale too but I decided not to get him, especially since he was $50.

eughh. . .estate sales can be so expensive. imo, anything in an estate sale that’s NOT furniture shouldn’t exceed 25$, but maybe i’m just a cheapskate.
that is very lucky, though!! i’m happy that you were able to find them, though…especially 2 different generations! i really thought my new mother goose was a gen 2 until i found out her head could move.

Yes. There were 5 Teddy Ruxpins, 4 Grubbys, and a Baby Teddy Ruxpin. The house was nasty though so I didn’t get one (thankfully). One of them had a broken neck and another was missing an eye, poor Illiops
