:0044:

I’d like some feedback on how showtapes are named. CEC has a lot of inconsistency over the years in how they’re named, and fans sometimes will call them either by official name or by the month they released.

For instance, CEC Friends is called `CEC Jan '91`. Fabulous World Adventure is called `August 1999`. January 1997 is called `Chuck E.'s Jukebox Jam Show`. Its inconsistent when we use release or official names.

Rockstar has similar issues, `First Quarter 2013` then `Spring 2013`. Then it gets into show 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 of 2015 or whatever.

Additionally, while some eras would abbreviate names and years, `CEC Jan '91`, some don’t, `Chuck E. Cheese's Show 1 2017`

I’d like some opinions on search-ability vs keeping to official names.

Every page uses the name that is officially labeled on the VHS/DVD. Those are the names CEC signed off on. Excluding those where we lack any visuals of the DVD/VHS. This is why Winter 2015 is referred to as Winter 2015 and not Show 1, 2015. Maybe if the search engine was like how it used to be this wouldn’t be up for discussion, as previously if you searched say “January 1991” it would appear, but now it doesn’t.

Edit: Just fix the search engine dawg and make the wiki user friendly. You’ve improved but its still a clunky mess.

Honestly fair on the search engine part. Just sent out a fix that weighs related words near the beginning of the article text the same as weighing the titles and it immediately fixes that. I can search January 2014 and it gets me First Quarter 2014.

I still think this is worth discussing though for consistency between articles, since some (like CEC Jan '91) I don’t believe we have confirmed labels for yet so it’d be better to mark it as CEC Friends like every other tape in its category.

Doesnt the aps floppy label it as Jan 91, not friends? Every other showtape has a proper name minus January 1991

Fair, fair. Again that’s why I’d propose having like multiple official names in the title. If people were consistent in calling the shows by their label I wouldn’t care but its all over the place (and usually leans towards just month+year)

Isn’t there a tagging system that would work
